like sunshine and rain

A pure energetic force, full of jokes, dance moves and her moods go from one end to the other in seconds - ‘Joy and pain are like sunshine and rain - WOO’.

She has been my muse so many times. I love her high energy, caramel skin tone, her beautiful bouncy curls. Can we normalize this beauty that I see? I want her face reflected on the next birthday card I purchase, the next art piece I see for sale, the next video game or YouTube channel she watches.

So you see, sometimes I paint flowers or get lost in the abstract, but I often paint faces I don’t see enough of. I happen to notice it more as a white mom to a mixed race child. We are so much more than that, but it is worth mentioning that it has influenced my creative side and my awareness. To that I am so grateful for the inspiration!
