Starting my day write (right!)
I wake up on the early side....between 5-6am typically. What gets me out of bed is knowing I have about 30 minutes to an hour of alone time. Alone = peace and quiet. I love my solitude. I have traveled alone before and enjoyed myself immensely. I could eat dinner out, sit by myself and be completely content. Doesn't mean I don't love my family or friends, but I often savor the alone time.
5 years ago or so, I read 'the Artist's Way' by Julia Cameron. I took the 12 week challenge in the book to write 3 pages every morning....and it made a real impact on my daily life. To this day, I start many mornings with writing. The impact it made was that it changed my mindset from the early hours of the day, it set the stage for me. It had this calming effect on me, as if I had just walked out of a massage or spa. So instead of being high stress from the morning to night, I got to have some peace and calm before the storm to come later that day.
The days I don't get to write, are like the days I don't get active, or I don't get to create...I feel it. Maybe not instantaneously, but by day 2 or 3...something feels off.
It's nice to know what can bring you peace, what works to provide a reprieve from the hectic ness of life.
Just a little way I create balance!
