Showing up
I mean, how do you show up? Every day, every morning, at work, at the gym, to your family, to your friends? How do you show up?
I had a realization the other day, after having a very tough day, that all these daily practices I have embraced over the last few years are serving me better. They allow me to come into a situation with more ease and a sense of calmness. Less triggered and less reactive than before.
Meaning, a better version than the version that showed up years ago. If I can start my day easy, if I have time to walk the dog, or go to the gym, I have had time for myself and that feels good. If I can take a moment to find the space to be grateful for all that is around me, my nervous system can have a sense of ease. Doesn’t mean that the nerves stay calm all day, but they can start there, and then throughout the day, I can take a deep breath and try to hold on to that memory of the morning. I am so thankful for writing, for creativity, for nature, for movement, for spending time to just be.
There is enough conflict, anxiety, and tension to go around. If I can find some little bit of inner peace I find that I can connect better to others. How do you show up in the world? In your community, at your job, to your family and friends? What is the energy you are spreading in the world?
