Internal Chaos

Chaos isn’t just around us. Some of us have the mind that never stops, never rests, never sleeps. Whether looking back to critique something that could’ve been better, or looking ahead at goals and dreams wondering how to get there. The busy mind doesn’t seem to want to take a break, or maybe it has no idea how to rest (outside of sleep).

Worry does not take away tomorrow’s troubles, it takes away today’s peace

At times, the act of creating art, allows me that peace. Peace from the chaos of the mind. I had a moment where art recently had lost the euphoric escape. I had an art friend say to me ‘go back to the principals of art’, so I decided to take an online class. I had a 60 minutes of virtual instruction on creating textures in art and it allowed me to stop thinking and just listen.

To continue to be a student, to continue to learn and grow. That was exactly what I needed. There is so much yet to learn, so much you can re-learn that allows you to have new eyes, new perspective and a new step forward. My advice, when the chaos comes back to you, just get back into the joy of whatever you love. For me, the love of art, I needed to take a step in a different direction, learn from someone else to find my peace again. I am sure it won't be the last time it happens, but at least I will know how to pivot for fresh perspective.
